It’s no secret to my colleagues at DPM that I have taken a special interest in the early musical career of Emilie Nicolas. So it was with great anticipation I went to see her perform, just a few months on after my favourable review back in January. This performance was very different in many ways. The venue (Hoxton Square Bar & Grill, London ) resembled a jam-packed beard convention. This time the lighting caught the singer most of the time throughout. Now that Emilie has got a few more concerts under her belt since the early part of the year, the songs have expanded and evolved to show increasing variations musically and highlighting her full power and range vocally. The two new songs Cloudy and Paulette that aren’t on the album show a new direction and one that may be an indication of a new sound world in which her music might evolve. This was another great concert in Emile’s canon.
The Album "Like I’m A Warrior” is released in the UK at the end of June.
She recorded a session for BBC Radio 1 the day before. Broadcast details have yet to be announced.
